Welcome!

And please come and join us in our exploration of the ARTS in general and of London in particular. In London we are spoilt for choice but that does not prevent us spreading our wings to explore further afield. The North London Decorative and Fine Arts Society belongs to the large umbrella organization, the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS, www.nadfas.org), which was founded in 1968. Our Society, NLDFAS, was actually the 14th society formed and originally met in the Cricket Club in Totteridge. The first President, John Jacobs, was a distinguished Curator at Kenwood House in Hampstead and, at his instigation, the Society moved there to hold their monthly meetings. The Society became closely involved in fundraising for Kenwood and some members worked as volunteers on particular projects. Our Society attracted many members and outgrew the space available in the Lecture Room in Kenwood House and in 1991 a fellow Society, Hampstead Heath DFAS, was formed. Our Society is now one of the 388 member societies of NADFAS that have been formed throughout the United Kingdom, in parts of Europe and in Australia and New Zealand. Its fun, its good , it is interesting!
